IN TEN 10-Minute Play Festival Features Student Works
April 18, 2012
Come see six student-written, directed, designed and acted 10-minute plays at Santa Fe College's third annual IN TEN play festival, Thursday through Saturday, April 19-21, in the Fine Arts Hall at the Northwest campus.
"It's always exciting to see the raw creativity and bursts of energy in the process of producing this event, which is also part of the Research in Undergraduate Education week," said Professor Terry A. Klenk. "This year, the pieces certainly reflect that creativity."
The pieces reflect a range of themes and styles and include:
- "Nevermore," by Seth Peterson – A take on an Edgar Allen Poe short story
- "Horizon," by Mallory Carli – A bar-room boxer and the choices in his life
- "The Two of Us," by Andre Dennon – An almost surrealistic play about a play happening in front of us for the first time
- "Writer's Block," by Troy Rucarian, Trace Rucarian and Cameron Hagler – A comic piece about a writer's "block" as he tries to write a meaningful graduation speech
- "The Word," by Jacob A. Stephens – An autistic couple learn they are about to raise a "normal" child
- "Bus 74," by Marion Wolfe – Comic meeting at a bus stop and an unlikely friendship that develops between two very different women
The plays are being judged by English Professors Randy Handel and Audrey Holt and Fine Arts Chair Alora Haynes. Saturday night, one of the plays will be recognized as "Best Play of the Festival."
