Science and Art Collide
April 15, 2012
Science and art come together when the Department of Research for Undergraduate Education (RUE) holds the 2012 Research & Creative Scholarly Projects Festival this week on the Northwest campus. This is the fifth annual festival.
The week-long event showcases work done by SF students in a variety of scientific and artistic disciplines including biology, mathematics, theatre and dance. Individual events include a poster session, oral and PowerPoint presentations of research projects, creative writing, poetry readings, art, music, dance and drama.
Highlights of the festival include the poster session and Spotlight on Creativity. During the poster session students showcase their scientific research projects. Research is presented through large-scale posters that detail the nature of the work, steps taken to develop it, and the outcome.
The Spotlight on Creativity is scheduled for Wednesday, April 18 in the Building E breezeway. During the 10 minute break between classes performers will delight passers-by with poetry readings, music, dance and theatrical performances.
