STEM Day Institute
April 10, 2012
Florida Campus Compact, through Learn and Serve America, invites you to attend From Seed to STEM: Cultivating Community Health. This Day Institute will take place Thursday and Friday, April 12 and 13 at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce. This Day Institute is free to attend and will also be available via live webcast. You can register online (you must register in order to receive the webcast link). The agenda, directions and hotel information, can be found here.
Santa Fe College would love to have representation at this event. Please contact Jessa Carpenter if you are interested in attending so that we can connect interested faculty to one another and report on our presence.
During the institute, faculty in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and related disciplines (including Community Health and Environmental Studies) will engage in presentations and panels. They will also participate in a process of course redesign - using their current course, or a new one - that will incorporate the principles and strategies of high quality community-based instruction. Though this institute has a focus on STEM, its content is applicable to all disciplines.
