SAINTS SWEEP MOUNT MERCY UNIVERSITY, 3-2 AND 4-2 Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints took a break from their Mid-Florida Conference schedule on Monday for a double header against Mount Mercy University. SF won game one on a walk off hit 3-2 and took game two 4-2.
Santa Fe (19-18, 6-3 MFC) fell behind early in game one 2-0 but bounced back for two runs in the third inning to tie the score. The first run came on a Mustang error and the second on a RBI single by Alaysia Miller.
Both teams were scoreless until the seventh inning when Erika Garcia singled home the game winning run. Shannen Marchu picked up the win in the circle.
In game two the Saints struck first with a run in the third on a RBI single by Ashley Holton. MMU answered in the fourth with two runs to take the lead but SF countered in the bottom of the inning with three runs on RBI by Bianca Torres, Brittney Mayhill and Paige Sandiford. The Saints had five hits in the inning, all singles.
Four runs were enough for Santa Fe pitchers Stephanie Cameron and Cierra Miller who combined on the win.
The Saints continue at home Tuesday, March 27 against College of Central Florida at 2:30 PM.
