Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints pulled off two late inning wins against Daytona State College on Tuesday afternoon to improve their record to 12-15 overall and 3-2 in the Mid-Florida Conference.

Alaysia Miller played the hero in game one, blasting a pinch hit two run homerun in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie.  In game two, Amber Richardson pitched a gem and also executed a perfect suicide squeeze in the bottom of the ninth inning, scoring Ashley Holton for the walk off 2-1 win.

Karla Claudio started in the circle in game one and went the distance, scattering five hits in the winning effort.  The Saints scored one early on a two out RBI single by Kimberly Booker in the first, but the Falcons answered in the top of the second with a run to tie it up at 1-1.  The score remained tied until Alaysia Miller stepped to the plate in the sixth and nailed the 2-0 pitch over the fence for a 3-1 SF lead.  Claudio finished the win off with a 1-2-3 seventh inning.

DSC opened the scoring of game two in the fourth inning with a run to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.  The Saints bounced back with a run in the fifth on an Amber Richardson two out bloop single to score Holton.

Things were still knotted up after seven full and the game went to extra innings.  In the ninth, Ashley Holton hustled out an infield single to start things off and then promptly stole second base.  The next batter, Erika Garcia, single softly to center, moving Holton to third. Still with no outs, Richardson stepped in and on the first pitch laid down a picture perfect bunt to score Holton, who was racing home on the suicide squeeze.

Vanessa Ortiz finished the day 3-for-6 with a run scored, Ashley Holton was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, Kimberly Booker was 2-for-7 with an RBI and Amber Richardson finished 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The Saints continue at home on Thursday, March 15 against St. Petersburg College in a non-conference double header scheduled to start at 2:30 PM.
