SAINTS PILE UP 25 HITS, WIN GAME ONE AGAINST SEMINOLE 7-4, GAME TWO SUSPENDED DUE TO DARKNESS WITH SF AHEAD 7-5

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (10-13, 1-0 MFC) opened defense of their Mid-Florida Conference championship in a big way, winning game one of a double header against Seminole State College 7-4.

Game two was suspended at the end of the sixth inning due to darkness with the Saints in front 7-5. It has yet to be determined when and if the final inning will be made up, or if it will be considered a completed game.

Santa Fe came out hot right out of the gates, scoring early and often in a 7-4 game one victory. Karla Claudio picked up the win in the circle.

Amber Richardson was the starting pitcher in game two and threw 4.1 innings before giving way to Stephanie Cameron in the fifth inning. Cameron recorded the final two outs of the fifth and also pitched the sixth before the game was called with Santa Fe ahead 7-5.

Claudio led a potent Saints offense with a 6-for-7 day, including two homeruns, a triple and five RBI. Vanessa Ortiz finished the afternoon 4-for-6 with two doubles and a RBI, Paige Sandiford was 4-for-9 with a double and a RBI and Erika Garcia finished 2-for-5 with a double.

The Saints continue MFC play on Saturday when they travel to Palatka to battle St. John's River State College at 1:00 PM.
