Saints Battle St. Pete College in First Round of FCSAA State Tournament on March 7 at 1:00 PM CST

FCSAA STATE TOURNAMENT MARCH 7-10

Gainesville, FL – After a nearly two week layoff, the NJCAA #10/FCSAA #4 Santa Fe Saints (25-4) travel to Chipola College in Marianna, FL for the 2012 Florida College System Activities Association State Tournament March 7-10. Every game of the tournament can be watched live on www.psblive.com.

The Mid-Florida Conference co-champion Saints play the first game of the day on Wednesday, March 7 against Suncoast Conference Champions St. Petersburg College at 1:00 PM CST. The winner moves on to play Friday, March 9 at 1:00 PM CST against either Northwest Florida State or Indian River State. The loser is eliminated.

SF (25-4, 10-2 MFC) finished the regular season with the second most wins in the state, one behind Northwest Florida. They enter their game against St. Pete scoring 74.8 points per game and they hold their opponents to 64.1 ppg.

The Titans and Saints met once this season, with St. Pete coming out on top 62-58 in Gainesville at the Florida Colleges Shootout in December.

Santa Fe is led into the tournament by leading scorer and rebounder Kevin Harden. Harden averages 13.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Point guard Brian Holmes (12.3 ppg) and forward Matt Conway (10 ppg) also average double figures for SF.
