SAINTS SPLIT DOUBLE HEADER WITH #1 TALLAHASSEE Tallahassee, FL – Freshman Amber Richardson was nearly unhittable for Santa Fe College (5-8) in game one of a double header against the #1 team in the state Tallahassee CC, as she scattered three hits over seven innings in the 2-0 Santa Fe victory. TCC (12-4) bounced back in game two, defeating SF 2-0 despite having just one hit. A strong Santa Fe defense and a stingy Richardson stifled the Eagles in game one and a Karla Claudio Rivera homerun paced the offense. Claudio Rivera finished 2-for-3, Ashley Holton was 2-for-4 and Kimberly Booker was 1-for-3. Santa Fe had six hits in all. "Our defense was tremendous in game one and Amber was outstanding on the mound," said SF coach Chris Ahern. "Karla came up with the big hit when we needed it." The Saints outhit Tallahassee 5-1 in game two, but couldn't come up with a hit with runners in scoring position. TCC scored one on a hit by pitch and the other on a SF error. Santa Fe walked six Eagle batters and committed three errors. Stephanie Cameron started in the circle and took the loss for Santa Fe. Claudio Rivera pitched 3.1 innings in relief. Booker finished 2-for-3 and Holton was 1-for-3. "I thought we played well in both games," said Ahern. "TCC only had four hits in two games, our defense played great the first game and our pitching was solid. Overall I was very encouraged with today's effort." The Saints get another shot at Tallahassee when the teams meet for the fifth time on Saturday, February 25 at the Polk Classic in Winter Haven at 12:00 PM. At 2:00 PM the same day SF battles host Polk State College. For complete schedules and more information on Saints Fastpitch, please visit santafesaints.com.
