2nd Annual Santa Fe College 48 Hour Film Competition, Feb. 24-26

February 21, 2012

Want to be the next Tarantino, Rodrigues, or Scorsese? Then let the 2nd Annual Santa Fe College 48 Hour Film Competition be your stepping stone to filmic greatness. Five-member teams will begin the competition at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at a kick-off event hosted at the Santa Fe College Center for Innovation and Economic Development (CIED), 530 W. University Ave., Gainesville.

In the 48-hour period, teams will have to complete a five-minute film based on a secret topic, prop, and line of dialogue. Once completed, films will be turned in at Emiliano's Café downtown, 7 SE First Ave. The films must be in by 7 p.m. sharp Sunday, Feb. 26, or they will not be judged.

This year there are over $2,000 in cash and prizes for the event, and the awards will be judged by industry pros from Hollywood and abroad. The judged categories include Student, Open and Best in Show.

Online registration is currently open, and the cost for the event is $30 for student teams and $40 for the open category. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit Santa Fe College Digital Media student scholarships.
