#1 SAINTS TAKE DOUBLE HEADER FROM SOUTH FLORIDA, 9-1 AND 9-0
Gainesville, FL – Sophomores Lawrence Pardo (2-0) and Brad Markey (2-1) each has quality starts and the Santa Fe (10-1) offense more than pulled their weight in two big wins over South Florida CC on Saturday afternoon in Gainesville. The Saints took game one 9-1 and shut out the Panthers 9-0 in game two. SF has outscored their opponents 26-1 over the first three games of their current five game home stand and have let to allow a base on balls.
"I always say that starting pitching sets the tone for your entire team," said SF coach Johnny Wiggs. "Pardo and Markey both did great jobs today working the strike zone, letting our defense make plays behind them. We have an exceptional defensive club and that gives our pitchers a lot of confidence to go up there and throw strikes."
The FCSAA #1/NJCAA #9 Saints opened up a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game one on an RBI triple by Trey Griffin and added two in the third on RBI singles by Caleb Denmark and Tim Remes.
SF blew the game open with a four run fourth thanks to an RBI triple by Caleb Denmark and a two RBI single by Drew Doty. Denmark scored on an RBI walk by Jacob Tillotson to make it 7-1. Santa Fe put two insurance runs on the board in the sixth, the first on a sac fly by Pardo and the second on a wild pitch.

In game two, both offenses stalled until a seven run outburst for SF in the fifth. Carrying a 1-0 lead into the inning, Jacob Tillotson doubled to start things off. Drew Doty immediately followed with a single for the first run of the frame. Two batters later AJ Mazzurco lined softly into center, loading the bases.
Caleb Denmark brought a run in with a walk, Blake Berger singled in a run, Mazzurco scored on a wild pitch and two runners came home on a dropped fly ball by the Panthers outfield. The final run of the inning came on a wild pitch, scoring Garrett Greenwell.
