Get Free Financial Aid Advice at College Goal Sunday, Feb. 12

February 9, 2012

College Goal Sunday Florida helps students and families navigate the financial aid process to gain access to higher education. It's a national program with a local event 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, in the Big Open Lab (Building N, room 216) on the Northwest Campus of Santa Fe College, 3000 NW 83rd St., Gainesville. It is free and open to the public.

"College Goal Sunday Florida is intended for students to get help in completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)," said SF Financial Aid Director Maureen McFarlane. "Assistance is given by financial aid professionals from SF and the University of Florida."

Students can apply to any college or trade program that receives federal financial aid.

She adds: "If you bring all the necessary paperwork, you can sit down and fill out the entire FAFSA and send it off right at the event. It's really helpful in that there are financial aid professionals ready to assist you in the process, so if you have any questions, you can get them answered immediately. It's a huge help for students and families, especially if you're never filled out the FAFSA before. College Goal Sunday takes the stress out of applying for money for college."

There will be a scholarship drawing for students who attend and complete a survey.

The event is hosted by SF in conjunction with UF and Alachua County public schools. To learn more about College Goal Sunday Florida and what information to bring, please visit:
