YARBROUGH AND RAMOS HONORED BY THE FCSAA; SAINTS JUMP TO #1 IN THE STATE POLL

Gainesville, FL – A 6-1 start to the 2012 season has the Santa Fe Saints back in a familiar position at the top of the FCSAA State Coaches Poll. SF garnered 10 of the possible 17 first place votes cast.

Two individual players were also honored for their play over the first week of the season. Third baseman Graham Ramos was named the FCSAA Player of the Week and Left handed pitcher Ryan Yarbrough was named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week.

Ramos, a sophomore from Tampa, Fla., is off to a torrid start, batting .500 (13-for-26) with eight runs scored, two home runs and 11 RBIs through the first six games of the season. Ramos has hit safely in all six games and has four multi-hit efforts, including a 4-for-5 game against South Georgia on January 29. He also has four multi-RBI games, including three-RBIs against South Georgia (January 28), Polk State (February 1) and South Florida (February 4). With two doubles included, Ramos has a slugging percentage of .808 and he is a perfect 2-for-2 in stolen bases.

Yarbrough, a sophomore from Lakeland, Fla., is 2-0 and has not allowed a run in nine innings pitched thus far. In wins against South Georgia (January 29) and South Florida (February 4), the southpaw allowed only eight hits, walked none (0.889 WHIP) and struck out 15, including nine against South Florida. Of note from Yarbrough's outing against South Florida, he needed only 50 pitches (41 strikes) to notch the five-inning victory.
