PARDO PITCHES SAINTS TO 6-3 VICTORY OVER HILLSBOROUGH CC

Tampa, FL – Sophomore Lawrence Pardo pitched five solid innings on Monday afternoon against Hillsborough CC, striking out eight in the 6-3 Santa Fe (6-1) win. He scattered five hits and surrendered just two runs on the afternoon.

Dylan Barrow, Josh Larson and Caleb Denmark combined to allow just one run out of the bullpen over the final four innings. Denmark threw a scoreless ninth for his first save of the season.

The Saints opened the scoring in the top of the first when Trey Griffin doubled home Drew Doty. In the second Jacob Tillotson doubled home two more for the second and third runs of the game.

Caleb Denmark plated a run in the third with an RBI single and the Saints added insurance runs in the seventh on a Shane Kennedy RBI triple and Drew Doty capped the scoring in the ninth when he came across after a wild pitch by the Hawks.

Trey Griffin led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI, Caleb Denmark finished 3-for-4 with a RBI, Tillotson was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, AJ Mazzurco was 2-for-3, Drew Doty was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored and Shane Kennedy was 2-for-3 with a triple and a RBI.

Next up, the Saints travel to Winter Haven on Wednesday, February 8 to face Polk State College at 5:00 PM. SF defeated Polk 10-1 on February 1 in Gainesville.
