DATYONA DEFEATS SAINTS, 66-50

Daytona, FL – The Santa Fe Saints struggled against the Daytona State Falcons on Saturday afternoon, falling 66-50 to drop SF to 7-17 overall and 1-5 in the Mid-Florida Conference.

The Saints played better in the second half but couldn't overcome a sluggish 19 point first half. The Falcons controlled the action over the first 20 minutes and led 32-19 at the break.

"Our effort was better in the second half, we shot much better, but just couldn't overcome that first half," said SF coach Chanda Stebbins. "We didn't do a good enough job on the boards and gave u too many second chance points."

Stephenie Coney led Santa Fe with 12 points and four assists, Tiara Thompson had 11 and Cassandra Brown scored eight.

The Saints return to action on Wednesday, February 1 at Florida State College – Jacksonville. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
