SF WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

MIAMI DADE RALLIES PAST SANTA FE IN SECOND HALF, 65-57

Miami, FL – The Santa Fe Saints held a 39-33 half time lead on Saturday afternoon against Miami Dade, but a late rally gave the Sharks a 65-57 win and the third loss in a row for the Saints. SF managed just 18 points in the second half.

“We had way too many turnovers late in the game and it cost us a win today,” said SF Coach Chanda Stebbins. “We also have to rebound better and quit losing the ball when it hits our hands. Our players need to be stronger and claim the ball.”

A major difference in the game came at the foul line where Miami Dade had a 36-10 advantage in attempts.

Stephenie Coney did what she could for SF, scoring 18 points with six assists. Miracle Watts (pictured) joined her in double figures with 10 points and Taybreanna Couch scored seven to go with eight rebounds.

The Saints will take some time off for the holiday break and return to action on December 29 and 30 in Gainesville at the Cabot Lodge Holiday Classic. SF battles NJCAA #5 Pensacola State College on the 29th at 6:00 PM and NJCAA #7 Gulf Coast State College on the 30th at 4:00 PM.
