SAINTS FALL TO ROXBURY 81-77 AFTER FURIOUS COMEBACK
Marianna, FL – The Santa Fe Saints mounted a furious second half comeback against Roxbury CC but came up just short, falling 81-77, moving them to 0-3 on the season.
Roxbury led 45-23 after a half that saw the Saints shoot a season low 16% from the field.
The Saints looked like a different team in the second half, shooting 62% and outscoring Roxbury 54-36. The comeback fell just short however as RCC held on for the four point win.
"We have to start playing for forty minutes," said SF Coach Chanda Stebbins. "We've been a second half team this season, but it takes two halves to beat the quality opponents we are facing."
Alexis Fitts led SF with 18 points, Stephenie Coney finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals and Stephanie Edwards chipped in 13 points.
The Saints continue in the Girls' Basketball Report Tournament on Saturday, November 12 at 4:00 PM CST against Indian River State College and on Sunday, November 13 at 11:00 AM CST against Monroe College (NY). Both games can be watched live at www.chipola.edu/tv.
