Enjoy a Spooktacular Halloween at Boo! at the Zoo
October 30, 2011
Thousands of area children will descend on the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo for the best Halloween party in town, Boo at the Zoo, 3-7:30 p.m. on Halloween (Monday, Oct. 31). Admission to Boo is one canned good per person for donation to area food banks.
Boo typically draws about 6,000 guests who visit 12 candy stations staffed by costumed zookeepers in the clearing in front of the zoo.
For those who wish to tour the zoo, and not just trick-or-treat, the zoo will be open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Halloween with free admission for all.
"All the decorations and theming will be in the clearing outside the zoo," said Tarah Jacobs, Conservation Education Specialist. "Inside the zoo, we will have animal encounters and the animals will have Halloween-themed enrichments. We are hoping that this will be the best of both worlds."
The Gainesville chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council is holding Green Halloween® concurrently, showcasing groups and companies committed to sustainable living. Green living educational activities, games and prizes will be available to entertain kids of all ages in front of the Little School.
