Volunteer orientation, Oct. 26

A message from Jonathan Miot at the SF Teaching Zoo:

We need your help for Boo at the Zoo! The Teaching Zoo puts on the best Halloween party in the area. We collect THOUSANDS of canned goods for local food banks – including Santa Fe Harvest, right here on campus. But, we can't do it alone. We need your help to make this a fun, safe and successful evening.

  • What: Volunteers will help collect the donated cans; direct guests during the evening; count the number of guests; help give out information at the info booth.
  • When: The event runs from 3-7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 (Halloween). We could use Volunteers from 2-8 p.m.
  • Why: Because you want an excuse to get out of work and hang out at the zoo.

There is a volunteer orientation at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 in front of the Teaching Zoo. If you need more information or cannot attend orientation and still want to volunteer please contact Jonathan Miot at 395-5602.

Teaching Zoo Needs Candy Donations for Boo at the Zoo

While you're out and about this weekend, please see if you can pick up BOGO candy for donation to Boo at the Zoo. They'ge got thousands of trick-or-treaters to satisfy! It needs to be individually wrapped, and if you can find candy with the "good" palm oil (see item at the bottom of this column) or no palm oil, even better. Here is their candy flyer with instructions.
