SF Students Awarded "Outstanding Delegate" at Model UN Conference
October 14, 2011
A message from Dr. Vilma Fuentes, Advisor, Model UN:
Santa Fe students distinguished themselves with their performance this past weekend at the sixth annual Florida Model United Nations Conference hosted at the Northwest Campus. Approximately 215 students from 11 different colleges and universities in Florida competed in this event.
Santa Fe students Simon Persico (representing the People's Republic of China) and Eduardo Carlo (representing Grenada) earned outstanding delegate awards for their work in the Security Council and UN Habitat, respectively. In other words, both students outperformed all others who were competing in their committees and helped SF win two of the possible four best delegate awards. The students who represent the delegation from China (Simon Persico, Brittany Davis and David Durkee) earned a distinguished delegation award (or second place) for their team effort. In addition, Brittany earned a best position paper award for her research on China's urban housing policy.
All of our college's Model United Nations members did a remarkable job representing our school before a group of very well trained, predominantly four-year institutions. Please be sure to congratulate all of our team members for their hard work.
