Certified Veteran Benefit Counseling Available at Northwest Campus

The Veteran Affairs office, located in R-110 on the Northwest campus, is pleased to announce the availability of Certified Veteran Benefit Counseling.
The Veteran Benefit Counselor will assist in filing for any benefits administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs, or Alachua County. This new service is intended to provide information, beyond the educational counseling currently available, to determine eligibility and assist with applications.
All faculty, staff and student veterans are invited to arrange an appointment by calling 395-5505 to schedule a visit.
Services include but are not limited to the following:
- Filing VA Disability Claims
- Ordering military records (DD214 and Medical Treatment Records)
- Adaptive equipment: grants for home improvements for severely disabled
- Appeals: guidance in appealing any decision made by the VA
- Automobile Grants: grants for auto equipment for severely disabled
- Burial Benefits: assistance with burial/plot expenses
- Clothing Allowance: annual clothing assistance for service connected disabled vets
- Death/Widows Pension: financial assistance for surviving spouses of wartime vets
- Dependents Benefits: extra benefits for children of disabled vets (Chapter 35)
- Education Benefits: guidance in applying for higher education benefits
- Home Loans: assistance in receiving certificate of eligibility
- Hospital/Medical Care: assistance in enrolling with VA Medical Care
- Pension Benefits: financial assistance for wartime era vets
- Applications for Vocational Rehabilitation Education Benefits (Chapter 31)
