Free, Basic Home Energy Auditing Class Offered

The Employ Florida Banner Center for Construction at Santa Fe College is offering a 6-hour, grant-funded community course designed to teach homeowners and renters non-cost methods that save up to 15 percent on their utility bill.

Learn how your home uses energy and where you can find the greatest opportunities for saving money. Learn how items in your home work and how they use energy, including your air conditioning system, heater, attic and much more. Upon class completion you will understand how to perform your own energy audit and what steps you need to take to discover many of the problems associated with wasted energy.

This is not a commercially sponsored program (no sales pitch) and any materials recommended are not brand specific.

This is a free, grant-funded program and students must meet very basic eligibility requirements (such as proof of Florida residency and proof of being at least 18 years old).

The classes are offered on the following dates: Aug. 24-25 (6-9 p.m.), Aug. 25 (9 a.m.-4 p.m.), Sept. 28-29 (6-9 p.m.), Sept. 29 (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) or Oct. 26 -27 (6-9 p.m.), or Oct. 27 (9 a.m.-4 p.m.).
