Santa Fe College Graduates EMTs and Paramedics, Aug. 12
August 9, 2011
Santa Fe College is celebrating the graduation of 19 students from the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Paramedic programs at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12 in the new Fine Arts Hall at the Northwest campus. The ceremony is open to the public and the media is invited to attend.
Most of the graduates are local, but some moved to Gainesville from South Florida and Daytona Beach to attend classes. Among the graduates, two have already started working for Bradford County, one for Volusia County, one for Nature Coast, one for Putnam County, and one for the City of Gainesville.
Santa Fe's EMT program is a 250-hour, 11-credit (one semester) program for professional work delivering on-site basic life support care. Students train in classes, labs, hospitals and emergency departments, and ambulances.
The one-year, 1,100-hour Paramedic program builds onto the EMT training and prepares grates to provide advanced life support patient care.
