SF career history

Selena began working at Santa Fe College in August 2000 as an administrative assistant in the Office of Admissions. Part of her duties included assisting with the Student Ambassador Program and the scheduling and conducting of campus tours. In 2002, she processed readmit applications for returning students in the Office of the Registrar. In 2004, she went back to the Office of Admissions, in what was probably the first step toward Santa Fe's Call Center, as a TeleAdvisor Specialist assisting students over the phone with their questions about the admissions process. Selena moved on to the University of Florida's Office of Admission in 2006 and worked as an Admission's Officer and Travel Coordinator. She handled travel arrangements for recruitment for the Admissions officers to visit Florida and out-of-state high schools, college fairs, and national fairs. Additionally, she assisted with the university's minority recruitment programs.

Selena returned to Santa Fe College in 2007 as the Lead Transcript Evaluator in the Office of the Registrar, where she has worked for the last four years.

Plans to spend time with her sons before their next deployment

As many of you may not know, she has two sons who are currently serving in the U.S. Army. Her youngest son, Aaron, who is married and has two children, has served two tours in Afghanistan and recently received orders for Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. He will deploy to Iraq with his new unit in 2012. Her oldest son, Chris, who is also married, has served one tour in Afghanistan and is scheduled to re-deploy to Afghanistan in 2012. After a lot of thought, Selena has decided to leave Santa Fe so she may spend time with her family.

"I have enjoyed working at Santa Fe College and I have met a great group of people," she said. " I will truly miss everyone I have crossed paths with and the community of the Santa Fe family."

The photo above (click for a larger view) was taken during the 2010 Christmas holiday when both Selena's sons were home. "It was the first time in five years all of us were able to spend Christmas as a family," she explained. Chris is on the left and Aaron is on the right.
