Celebrate "Jack Horkheimer Day" at the SF Planetarium, June 11
June 10, 2011
Confused about the cosmos? Can't tell a planet from a star? Then just give us 5 minutes and we'll show you what they are!
Saturday, June 11 marks the first annual "Jack Horkheimer Day" at the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium at Santa Fe College. Jack Horkheimer, late executive director of the Miami Space Transit Planetarium and host of the internationally syndicated PBS show, "Star Gazer," also served as an advisor for the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium's advisory committee. Saturday would have been Jack's 73rd birthday. In tribute to his contribution to astronomy and the planetarium industry, the Santa Fe College planetarium is dedicating June 11 as "Jack Horkheimer Day."
To celebrate, Kika Silva Pla Planetarium show admission for children (ages 4-12) and seniors (ages 60+) will be free on that day! And for the adults, planetarium admission prices will be $5 for all shows (including our "Music 360 – Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon"show).
Prior to each presentation, we'll show episodes of "Star Gazer" as well as a tribute video made by WPBT-Miami in Jack's memory.
