Nine Baseball players Named to All-MFC Teams

NINE SAINTS EARN ALL-MFC HONORS
Gainesville, FL – Nine members of the Santa Fe baseball team were recently named to the 2011 All Mid-Florida Conference team for their performance during the regular season. Coach Johnny Wiggs won the MFC Coach of the Year award for the third consecutive year and fourth time in his five years at SF.
Sophomore pitcher Malcolm Clapsaddle made the First Team and was also named the MFC Pitcher of the Year. In his first year with SF, Clapsaddle set the school record for wins in a season (11) and strikeouts in a season (100). He has an ERA of just 1.31, after surrendering just 12 earned runs in 82.1 innings pitched.
Other First Team members: Sophomore 3B Austin Lawrence (.349 BA, 16 2B, 29 RBI), freshman OF Drew Doty (.395 BA, 16 2B, 6 HR, 42 RBI), sophomore OF Jay Laurienzo (.347 BA, 8 2B, 10 HR, 37 RBI), freshman catcher Tim Remes (.309 BA, 8 2B, 4 HR, 25 RBI), sophomore catcher/DH Cory Elasik (.354 BA, 2 2B, 2 HR, 15 RBI) and sophomore pitcher Ben O'Shea (8-2, 3.19 ERA, 91 K, 59.1 IP).
Second Team: sophomore 2B Jake Huxtable (.352 BA, 11 2B, 2 HR, 28 RBI) and freshman OF Trey Griffin (.323 BA, 9 2B, 4 HR, 26 RBI).
