SAINTS FALL TO DAYTONA 5-1 IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE

Daytona, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (35-9-1, 18-6 MFC) came out flat in their regular season finale against Daytona State College, managing just one first inning run against the Falcons.

DSC scored one in the second to tie the score and a third inning grand slam gave them the 5-1 lead and eventual winning margin.

Malcolm Clapsaddle started on the hill for SF and pitched a scheduled two innings, surrendering one run and striking out two to give him 100 on the season, the first Santa Fe pitcher in history to achieve that feat.

Brendan O'Rourke took the loss, giving up four runs with two walks. Kentrail Pierce, Daniel Schiller, Antwan Brown and Ryan Yarbrough each threw a scoreless inning of relief and Ben O'Shea finished the game, pitching the eighth and ninth inning, collecting four strikeouts.

Drew Doty finished the game 2-for-3 and Jay Laurienzio was also 2-for-3. The Saints had seven hits on the day.

With the regular season complete, SF travels to Lakeland on May 7-11 for the FCSAA State/NJCAA Region VIII Tournament at Joker Marchant Stadium. The Saints first round game is at 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 7 against the Panhandle Conference #2 seed.
