CLAPSADDLE SHUTS DOWN SEMINOLE, 11-1

Gainesville, FL – Malcolm Clapsaddle (9-1, 1.28 ERA, 79 K in 63.1 innings) surrendered just four hits on Saturday afternoon and struck out 11 as the Saints cruised past Seminole State College 11-1 in seven innings to win their seventh game in a row and 12 out of their last 13.
The Santa Fe (29-6-1, 12-3 MFC) offense started early, scoring five runs in the first inning. The first five SF batters collected hits to give the Saints a 4-0 lead before the first out was recorded. Garrett Greenwell drove in Tim Remes with a double off the centerfield fence for the fifth run of the frame. Andrew Grifol, Drew Doty and Remes (2) all had RBI in the inning.
Seminole scored their only run of the game in the second inning and threatened for more but Clapsaddle forced a groundball 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.
The Saints scored two more on a SSC error in the fourth and four in the fifth on four hits including a two RBI double by Austin Lawrence, an RBI single by Greenwell and an RBI double by Jake Huxtable.
Clapsaddle got himself out of a one out, bases loaded jam in the seventh with a strikeout and a groundout to SS to end the game early according the Mid-Florida Conference mercy rules.
Santa Fe had 14 hits as a team. The top three hitters in the Saints lineup combined to go 7-for-11 with four RBI, five runs and two doubles. Leadoff man Austin Lawrence was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI, Jake Huxtable was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Drew Doty finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.
The bottom of the Saints order was also productive as the eight and nine hitters went 4-for-6 with two RBI and three runs scored. Garrett Greenwell finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and TJ Spina was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
SF travels to Lake Sumter on Monday, April 4 to take on the Lakers at 3:00 PM. They return home on Wednesday when they play host to the College of Central Florida at 3:00 PM.
