SF WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
KING NAMED ALL-MFC AND ALL STATE, EIGHT OTHERS ALL-MFC
Gainesville, FL – Leandra King recently headlined a group of nine Santa Fe women's basketball players that were selected as All-Mid-Florida Conference following the 2010-11 season that saw the Saints win their third straight MFC title. Coach Chanda Stebbins was rewarded with her third straight MFC Coach of the Year award and King and Jasmine Richardson were named to the 2011 FCSAA State Tournament team.
For her efforts, King was also named to the FCSAA All-State Team. As a sophomore, she averaged 8.4 points per game, led SF in rebounding at 9.3 per game and led the state in blocked shots with 82 (Santa Fe single season record). For her career she had 130 blocks, shattering the previous career mark of 69 set in 2006-07 by Katie Koestner.
Joining King on the Mid-Florida Conference First team is freshman guard Stephenie Coney. Coney led the Saints in scoring with 9.6 points per game and in assists with 3.5 apg.
MFC Second Team honorees: freshman forward Jasmine Richardson (6.8 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game), freshman guard Kindsay Brandt (9.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg), sophomore guard Demisha Mills (8.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg), freshman forward Jasmine Blakemore (5.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg), and freshman forward Kristien Malone (5.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg).
MFC Honorable Mention honorees: freshman guard Stephanie Edwards (7.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg) and sophomore guard Jazmyne Green (5.6 ppg, 2.3 rpg).
