SF Faculty Honored by Athletics Department

The Athletics Department recently honored SF faculty members for their outstanding dedication to the classroom success of SF's student athletes at their second annual faculty appreciation event. Thirty instructors were nominated by the athletes and four were selected as Faculty Member of the Year - one by each team, respectively.
The event took place in the Santa Fe Gallery last Wednesday, and was attended by nominated faculty and family, Dr. Sasser, Portia Taylor, Curtis Jefferson, Chuck Clemons and Marilyn Tubb. (Event photos by Scott Jamison)
Athletic Director Jim Keites also spoke and expressed his gratitude to the faculty: "We feel we are very fortunate at Santa Fe to have faculty who are not just outstanding teachers, but caring and supporting individuals as well. This event is just one small way that we can show our appreciation for what you do every day for all SF students."
The winning instructors, as selected by the teams:
- Baseball: Dr. Bruce Tucker, Student Life (the award was presented by baseball player Steven Ragans)
- Softball: Dr. Naima Brown, Social and Behavioral Sciences (presented by softball player Stephanie Cameron – see photo above)
- Women's Basketball: Ms. Rebecca Micha, Humanities and Foreign Languages (presented by basketball player Demisha Mills)
- Men's Basketball: Ms. Susan Strauss, Social and Behavioral Sciences (presented by Jim Keites on behalf of men's basketball)
