POWERFUL OFFENSE HIGHLIGHTS SAINTS SWEEP OF DAYTONA
Daytona, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (27-8, 8-2 MFC) picked up two important wins in their quest for a seventh straight Mid-Florida Conference title on Thursday night against Daytona State, winning game one 8-7 and game two 12-4. Colena Lazar was the winning pitcher in both contests. She struck out 13 on the day.
SF freshman Colleen Leebove made her presence felt in game one, going 2-for-2 with a double to help lead the Saints to the close 8-7 win. Ashley Holton finished 1-for-3, also with a double.
In game two, sophomores Gia Tomossone and Ashley Curry took over, combing for eight hits. Tomossone was 4-for-5 with two doubles and Curry finished 3-for-3 with a double.
Jasmine Warren had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-9 with five runs scored and a double.
The Saints battle College of Central Florida at home on Saturday, March 26 at 1:00 PM in a Mid-Florida Conference double header.
