SAINTS COME FROM BEHIND TO DEFEAT SEMINOLE, 6-4

Sanford, FL – Santa Fe (25-6-1, 8-3 MFC) fell behind 3-0 early on in their Mid-Florida Conference game against Seminole State College, but a big seventh inning helped SF rally for their eighth conference win.

Ben O'Shea (6-2) started on the mound and pitched six innings, surrendering four runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts.

The Raiders scored three quick runs in the first inning but O'Shea settled in and held SSC to just one run over the next five innings, giving the Saints offense a chance to answer.

Drew Doty led off the fourth inning with a double and later scored on a Seminole error to make the score 3-1. Santa Fe completed the comeback in the seventh with five runs on four hits and two errors.

Jay Laurienzo led the frame off with a single and Trey Griffin followed with a double. Garrett Greenwell drove in the first run of the inning with an RBI groundout. Two batters later Jake Huxtable knocked in a run with a single. Doty kept things going with an RBI double and Austin Lawrence capped the inning with an RBI single to make the score 6-3.

Seminole scored one in the seventh off O'Shea before Kyle Rowe came in to shut the door with three scoreless innings to pick up his team leading third save.

The Saints finished with nine hits as a team. Drew Doty was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI and Austin Lawrence was 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Seminole State visits Gainesville on Saturday, March 26 for a MFC game scheduled to start at 1:00 PM.
