CLAPSADDLE NEARLY FLAWLESS IN 1-0 WIN OVER FSC-J
Jacksonville, FL – Sophomore pitcher Malcolm Clapsaddle (7-1) ran his scoreless inning streak to 16 on Monday afternoon, shutting out Florida State College at Jacksonville 1-0 in a complete game effort. The right hander struck out 12 and allowed just one hit and walked one on 98 pitches. In his last two starts, Clapsaddle has 25 strikeouts in 16 innings.
The only run of the game came in the sixth on a two out RBI double by Drew Doty. Cory Elasik started the inning with a single and TJ Spina later walked to put runners on first and second. With two outs, Doty came through with the big hit, scoring Elasik for the eventual game winner.
The Saints (24-6-1, 7-3 MFC) had plenty of opportunities to add to their lead, loading the bases three times, but failed to come up with the timely hits.
Santa Fe had eight total hits on the day. Drew Doty finished 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI and Cory Elasik was 2-for-2 with a run scored.
SF takes to the road again on Friday for a MFC game against Seminole State College at 3:00 PM. They return home on Saturday to take on Seminole at 1:00 PM.
