ST. JOHN'S RIVER DEFEATS SANTA FE 10-6 TO REGAIN FIRST PLACE
Palatka, FL – St. John's River State College (17-15, 6-2 MFC) rebounded on Friday night with a 10-6 win over Santa Fe, just two days after a 10-0 defeat at the hands of the Saints (22-6-1, 5-3 MFC) in Gainesville.
Ben O'Shea started on the hill for SF and lasted just 1.2 innings, his shortest outing of the season. He surrendered four runs on three hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Jarrod Carlton pitched 3.1 innings in relief, giving up two runs on three hits with one strikeout.
Antwan Brown pitched the sixth and seventh innings, surrendering four runs (two earned) on three hits. Kyle Rowe threw a scoreless eighth, striking out three.
Santa Fe scored all six runs in the seventh inning. Jay Laurienzo hit his sixth homerun of the season for the first two runs, Drew Doty doubled home the next run, Austin Lawrence singled home two and Laurienzo collected his second hit of the inning and third RBI with a single.
St. John's scored four in the second, four in the sixth and two in the eighth.
Austin Lawrence finished 2-for-5 with two RBI, Jay Laurienze was 2-for-2 with a homerun
and three RBI, Garrett Greenwell was 2-for-4 and Cory Elasik was 2-for-4. Santa Fe
had nine hits total.
The Saints return to Gainesville for a MFC game against Florida State College at Jacksonville on Saturday, March 19 at 1:00 PM.
