LAZAR THROWS NO HITTER AS SAINTS ROUT SOUTH FLORIDA CC, 6-0 AND 10-2

Gainesville, FL - Colena Lazar (3-3) pitched her third gem in a row on Saturday afternoon, striking out nine and holding the South Florida Panthers hitless for her fifth career no hitter in game one of a double header. In her previous two starts, Lazar struck out 16 and 14, respectively giving her 39 strikeouts in her last 21 innings of work.

The NJCAA #10 Saints (8-4) scored six runs in game one and Colena Lazar even helped her own cause going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Centerfielder Jasmine Warren was 2-for-2 with a run and a double, while catcher Ashley Curry had an RBI double and scored a run. Alaysia Miller and Erika Garcia both connected on towering homeruns to help pace the SF offense.

In game two, starter Erika Garcia held the Panthers to one run on one hit in four innings of work. The Saints were winning 9-1 in the fifth when Stephanie Cameron came to the circle. She allowed one run on no hits, and the Saints returned to hit in the bottom of the fifth inning, needing one run to end the game.

Freshman Colleen Leebove drew a walk to lead off the inning and Jasmine Warren followed with a base hit. After a sacrifice by Jaimee Vega to move the runners, Venica Brown was hit by a pitch putting Leebove at third. Cameron stepped to the plate and hit a long sacrifice fly to score Leebove, ending the game with a final score of 10-2.

Jasmine Warren led the team in game two with a 3-for-3 performance, a walk and three runs scored, swiping a base along the way. Jaimee Vega chipped in a hit, an RBI and three runs scored, while Ashley Curry continued her hot streak at the plate, going 2-for-2 with four RBI.

The Saints continue their home stand on Thursday, February 24 when they host Edward Waters College at 2:00 and 4:00 PM.
