SAINTS DEFEAT FSC-J, 65-55, MOVE CLOSER TO THIRD STRAIGHT MFC TITLE

Jacksonville, FL – The Santa Fe women's basketball team traveled to Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon and defeated Florida State College at Jacksonville 65-55. The win moves the Saints (16-12, 8-3 MFC) even closer to their third straight Mid-Florida Conference title.

Santa Fe came out strong in the first half and built a 40-26 lead over the Stars at the break. SF kept the pressure on and stretched the margin to 58-39 with 6:30 to go. FSC-J refused to give in and made a late run closing the lead to single digits, but it was too little too late as the Saints were just too much down the stretch.

Leandra King led SF in scoring with 16 points and capped a double double with 10 rebounds, Jasmine Richardson had with 10 points to go with 15 rebounds, Kindsay Brandt scored 12, Ashley Bacchus had eight, all in the first half, and Stephanie Edwards finished with nine points and seven rebounds.

The Saints play their last game of the regular season at home on Saturday, February 19 against Hillsborough CC at 2:00 PM. An SF win next Saturday or a loss by Daytona State (18-10, 8-3 MFC) on Wednesday would clinch the championship and the #1 seed at the FCCAA State Tournament for the Saints.
