SAINTS WIN A TIGHT GAME AGAINST ST. PETE COLLEGE, 5-4
Gainesville, FL – The NJCAA #23/FCCAA #3 Santa Fe Saints won their fifth game in a row on Wednesday afternoon in Clearwater, defeating St. Petersburg College 5-4.
Malcolm Clapsaddle started on the hill for SF and pitched five innings, surrendering three runs while striking out five. He was relieved in the sixth after loading the bases with no outs, but Kyle Rowe stepped onto the mound and got out of the inning with no runs scored. Rowe (1-0) pitched 3.2 innings to record the win and Jarod Carlton (1) pitched the final out for his first save of the season.
The big inning for the Saints came in the seventh when they pushed four runs across. Trey Griffin (1) started the rally with a solo homerun, Austin Lawrence drove a run in with a single and Jay Laurienzo knocked in two on an RBI double.
