SANTA FE EARNS KEY ROAD VICTORY OVER DAYTONA, 64-59
Daytona, FL – Jerome Clyburn and Eddie D'Haiti paced the Santa Fe Saints (14-6, 1-1 MFC) on Saturday afternoon against Daytona State College, scoring 13 points each in the 64-59 victory.
The important win comes three days after SF dropped their Mid-Florida Conference opener at home to College of Central Florida.
Santa Fe led the entire first half and took a seven point lead into the break. Daytona fought back in the second period, tying the game with four minutes to go.
With a two point lead and the ball, Jerome Clyburn tipped in a missed Marko Djekovic layup to give SF a 60-56 lead with 1:30 remaining.
The Saints led by five with under a minute to go, but missed three straight free throws with a chance to put the game away. A desperation 25 foot three pointer by Daytona cut the lead to just two with 14 seconds in the game. From there, SF made their free throws to put the game away.
Five Saints scored in double figures, including Clyburn and D'Haiti with 13 each, Chad Renfro with 12, Branimir Mikulic 11 and Ilija Ivankovic 10.
Santa Fe travels to Florida State College at Jacksonville on Wednesday, January 12 for a game against the Stars at 8:00 pm. The game can be watched live at www.psblive.com.
