DEFENSE KEY IN SAINTS' WIN OVER WAKE TECH, 80-56

Winter Haven, FL – The FCCAA #7 Santa Fe Saints (13-4) held Wake Tech to 38% shooting from the field and only 21% (5-for-24) from the three point line on Sunday in the Polk Classic in route to a comfortable 80-56 win. The victory is the fourth in a row for the Saints.

SF led 42-28 at the half, and used stifling defense to push the lead to 26 over the first ten minutes of the second period, holding Wake to only four points over that stretch.

Marko Djekovic scored a game high 16 points and was 3-for-3 from the three point line. Eddie D'Haiti, 14, and Anthony Nwadigo, 11, also scored in double figures. Branimir Mikulic finished with nine points and nine rebounds and Ilija Ivankovic had eight points and eight rebounds..

The Saints shot 53.7% from the field and were 7-for-10 on threes.
Santa Fe will take ten days off before returning to action on December 30 at home against UCS-Salkahatchie at 6:00pm.
