SF WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

SANTA FE FALLS TO TALLAHASSEE, 59-47

Marianna, FL – The Santa Fe Saints led the Tallahassee CC Eagles at the half, but failed to hold on, shooting only 25% (16-of-64) from the field in a 59-47 loss. TCC outscored the Saints 14-7 at the foul line.

“Our effort was good, but our execution has to get better,” said SF Coach Chanda Stebbins. “We will see Tallahassee again on Tuesday and will be able to measure our improvement right away.”

Kindsay Brandt led SF in scoring with 14 points, Stephenie Coney had 11 and Leandra King scored seven points to go with a game high 15 rebounds.

“We did a great job on the glass,” Stebbins said. “Leandra set a great tone for us early and played hard all game, helping us outrebound them 51-42.”

Tallahassee visits Gainesville on Tuesday for a game with the Saints at 6:00pm. The Santa Fe men follow against TAAG Academy at 8:00pm.

“A tournament like the one this weekend is a great experience for our players,” said Stebbins. “To be able to play two Panhandle teams gives us a good idea of what it takes to beat the best teams in the country.”
