It's time to kick up campus recycling efforts and we need your help! On Wednesday, Oct. 27, Santa Fe College is conducting a campus-wide waste audit.

What does this mean?

We are taking ALL THE GARBAGE OUR CAMPUS GENERATES IN ONE DAY and sorting through it – taking out recyclables, organic waste such as food scraps, etc. Everything will be weighed, mapped and measured so that we can reconfigure our recycling program and increase the amount of waste being recycled on our campus. We are comparing this year’s figures to a similar audit conducted two years ago.

We're starting at 8:30 a.m. and working in the parking lot behind D Building. We expect this to take all day, at least until 3:30 p.m. Volunteers who work at least 2 hours will receive a free T-shirt. We will have free refreshments as well throughout the day. Latex gloves and masks will be available. (Bring your own work gloves.)

We need your help for as little or as long as you can make it. For every hour you volunteer you will get a chance to win a grand prize. For example, if you volunteer for 5 hours you get five tickets/five chances to win. Sign up by shooting an email to barbara.fields@sfcollege.edu.
