Nominations Now Being Accepted for 2011 Women of Distinction and Woman of Promise Awards

In celebration of Women's History Month in March, every year Santa Fe College honors women who have made significant contributions in Alachua or Bradford County.

Nominations are being accepted through Nov. 3 for the 24th annual Alachua-Bradford County Women of Distinction and Woman of Promise.

Nominees for Women of Distinction should have demonstrated unique achievements in the arts, business, industry, science, environment, medicine, education, government, social services, human rights, history, sports, agriculture, humanities, community service or philanthropy in either county.

Nominees for Woman of Promise should be 16-21 years old and have demonstrated character, achievement and leadership in Alachua or Bradford County.

Finalists are chosen by a bi-county panel of judges and the women are honored at a luncheon, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the Hilton University of Florida.

Nomination forms are available online at the WOD website, www.sfcollege.edu/wod and must be postmarked by Nov. 3.
