SAINTS COMPLETE SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND AT HOME

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (7-0-2) won three of four games over the weekend of October 2-3 against Top Prospects and Orlando Baseball Academy and finished in a 1-1 tie the other game.

The tie came in game one on Saturday against Top Prospects, as both teams pitched exceptionally well, both surrendering just one run in the seven inning game. The Saints swung the bats more consistently in game two, racking up ten runs in a 10-4 victory.

On Sunday, SF handled Orlando Baseball Academy, defeating them 8-2 in game one and 8-1 in game two. Ryan Yarbrough starred on the mound in the first game, pitching three scoreless innings to go with six strikeouts. Josh Larson threw two hitless innings in the second game of the doubleheader, striking out five.

The Saints rolled up 27 runs in four games and the pitchers struck out 39 hitters in 28 innings of work.

Trey Griffin led the offense for the weekend, going 5-for-8 with a double, triple and three RBI.

Santa Fe will play the remainder of the fall preseason schedule at home. The next doubleheader is on Wednesday, October 6 at 2:00pm against IMG Academy.
