SAINTS SWEEP JACKSONVILLE BANDITS TO OPEN FALL BALL
Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints opened up their fall preseason schedule with a two game sweep of the Jacksonville Bandits, a travel team out of Jacksonville, FL, on Saturday, September 18.
Santa Fe won game one 7-0 and game two 7-3. They piled up 17 hits in the two games, including four doubles and two homeruns, one each by catcher Venica Brown and infielder Alaysia Miller.
Five SF pitchers combined to strikeouts 11 Bandit batters, surrendering only four hits and three runs. The Saints committed one error on the day.
“Given that this was our first outing, I think we played pretty well on offense and defense,” said Coach Chris Ahern. “Being able to manufacture 14 runs was a positive. We know we have some things to work on and we will continue to practice hard and get better every day.”
The Saints play a double-double on Saturday, September 25 at home, starting off with a two game set against Jacksonville Storm – Shepherd at 9:30am, and back to back games with the Jacksonville Players at 1:30pm.
