Baseball Defeats SF, Ties Polk State

SAINTS DEFEAT SOUTH FLORIDA CC 10-7, TIE POLK STATE 4-4

Gainesville, FL – The Saints (3-0-1) traveled to Winter Haven on Sunday to play two Suncoast Conference teams and pulled out a win over South Florida CC 10-7 and tied Polk State 4-4.

Santa Fe finished with 10 runs on 12 hits in game one. Jake Huxtable, Jay Laurienzo, Cory Elasik, and Nathan Bandy all had two hits and Andrew Grifol had two RBI. Pitchers Chris Lee, Jarod Carolton, and Antwan Brown threw scoreless innings.

Huxtable and Ryan Enos paced the Saints in game two, each collecting two hits and an RBI. Steven Ragans pitched two shutout innings with three strikeouts and Kyle Rowe threw 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. The SF pitching staff struck out 10 batters in seven innings.

The Saints take on the Hardballers on Wednesday, September 22 at 4:00pm at home.
