SF FASTPITCH
SAINTS READY FOR FALL BALL DEBUT
Gainesville, FL – Coach Chris Ahern and the six time defending Mid-Florida Conference champion Santa Fe fastpitch team open their fall preseason schedule on Saturday, September 18 with a double header against the Jacksonville Bandits starting at 9:30am.
The Saints return seven players from last year’s team, including All-American pitcher Colena Lazar. Lazar (26-4 record) set a new school mark for no hitters in a career, recording four in her freshman campaign and finished with 279 strikeouts, a single season SF record.
Thirteen newcomers join the seven returners for a run at MFC championship number seven. Before the Saints look ahead to the spring regular season, the fall gives the coaches and players a good opportunity to come together as a team and continue to improve every day.
Santa Fe will play three NCAA Division I programs including the University of Florida, Florida State University and the University of North Florida and one NAIA program, Thomas University.
In all, SF will play games on ten different dates (seven at home) from September 18-November 14 when they conclude the fall season with the Clearwater Bombers travel team.
