SAINTS OPEN “FALL BALL” ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 12
Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints baseball team and head coach Johnny Wiggs open their preseason practice game schedule, also known as Fall Ball, at home on Sunday, September 12 with a doubleheader at noon against World of Baseball, a travel team from Jacksonville.
With only five players returning who saw playing time last spring, this will be the first collegiate game action for many of the Santa Fe players. The Saint returners include: P Steven Ragans, P Kevin Welborn, C Cory Elasik, SS TJ Spina and 2B Austin Lawrence.
The fall season continues through November, with the Saints playing 11 home dates, including eight doubleheaders, and two away games on September 19 against South Florida CC and Polk State.
“The guys are excited to get started,” said Coach Wiggs. “We have 27 new faces in our program so this is going to be an ongoing evaluation process as the fall season unfolds. Our main goal will be to continue to improve on a daily basis. We are looking for progress, not perfection this early in the fall.”
