Three Days and 60 Miles to End Breast Cancer

August 19, 2010

A message from Linda Sweet, Compensation Manager, Human Resources:

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure ™ is an amazing 60-mile journey that helps mothers, sisters, spouses, and friends get one step closer to a world without breast cancer.

The foundation states: “Everything you need to be part of the biggest and boldest breast cancer event in history lies within you. Show the world that in 3 days and 60 miles you can change the course of breast cancer forever.” (To learn more follow the link provided above.)

Can't quite make it happen? Me, either, but my daughter, Jennifer Emery, will be taking this inspirational journey by walking the 60-mile Tampa Bay route Oct. 29, 30 and 31 on behalf of all of us who cannot make the walk.

Jennifer and her husband Ty, parents of two very active daughters, live, work and play in the Gainesville community. She is a Santa Fe College graduate who went on to earn degrees from USF and UCF. She works as a Speech and Language Pathologist at her daughter's elementary school, Talbot Elementary.

Although only in her 30s, Jennifer has known several women who have survived the battle against breast cancer and inspired her to join the fight. However, it won't be easy. Each participant must raise a minimum of $2,300, so I'm asking you to please help support her in this very worthy undertaking by donating whatever you can. No donation is too small to make a difference. Please follow the secure link provided to Jennifer's webpage to donate.

When you make your donation, please let her know if it is in honor of, in support of, or maybe in memory of someone. Net proceeds from the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™ are invested in breast cancer research and community programs.

Let's help to make a difference for our daughters and our daughter's daughters. Thank you!
