Camp Money Que$t Teaches Teens About the Green, June 22-26
June 22, 2010
Santa Fe College's Community Outreach and the East Gainesville Initiative, in partnership with other local agencies, are hosting the 4th Annual Financial Literacy/Money Que$t Camp for high school students, June 22-26. The camp meets at UF's Eastside Campus on NE Waldo Road.
The camp teaches high school students about the basics of money, credit cards, checking and saving accounts, and overall money management. The participants learn how to make good financial decisions and establish a firm financial foundation.
During the camp sessions, students also receive books about money management, visit local banks, a car dealership, and the Federal Reserve in Jacksonville to acquire hands-on experiences about the use of money.
Several local agencies have partnered with Santa Fe College to offer this educational experience for high school youth, including the East Gainesville Development Corporation, Inc., several East Gainesville faith-based churches, Greenpath Financial Solutions, and the Twenty Pearls Foundation-Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
