Santa Fe and the FACC Student Development Commission's Annual Conference

Eleven Santa Fe College employees from Academic Foundations, the Advisement Center, Counseling Center, Disabilities Resources Center, Office of the Registrar, Student Life, and the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs recently attended the FACC Student Development Commission's annual conference, hosted this year by Florida State College – Jacksonville.
SF presentations
Staff delivered two educational sessions:
- “Adviser as an Information Resource Person” – facilitated by Dan Rodkin, Director, Student Life
- “Factors for Improving Student Retention ” – facilitated by Dr. Angela Long, Coordinator, Student Leadership & Activities
Marcia Buresch, Emilia Hodge, and Lynn Sullivan presented on the Advising Council, and were recognized as being one of three finalists for the 2010 FACC SDC Exemplary Practice Award.
SF student Ricky Hightower recognized
Santa Fe did take one home one honor: Ricky Hightower, a summer 2010 Santa Fe graduate, received the Student Connection Award for his contributions to student development work at Santa Fe. Ricky served as president of Mu Beta Kappa, which won SF Student Organization of the Year, and served as a member of the Parking Appeals Committee. Ricky received a plaque and check from the Student Development Commission.
SF will host 2011 conference
Santa Fe College was recognized as being the host college for the 2011 FACC Student Development Commission conference, May 18-20, 2011. Santa Fe employees interested in participating on the host committee or attending the conference are encouraged to contact Dan Rodkin at 395-4171.
