BROWN SIGNS WITH LYNN UNIVERSITY

Gainesville, FL – Sophomore infielder Mandi Brown, a local player from Buchholz High School, has made her four year college choice and will continue her career at Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL, announced Santa Fe coach Chris Ahern.

“We are happy for Mandi on her decision to play for Lynn. She is a local athlete we wanted right out of high school, but we were happy to have her back after she spent her freshman year at a different school,” said Ahern. “We are excited that her time with us yielded her the opportunity she now has to continue her studies and softball. She is multi-talented and will be a good addition to Lynn’s roster.”

Brown signed her letter of intent earlier this week and will join the Fighting Knights of Lynn University in the Fall.

Lynn, a Division II school and member of the Sunshine State Conference, is led by second year Head Coach Mandy Harris. The Fighting Knights finished the 2010 season with a 24-31 overall record and were 7-17 in the SSC.

Brown will provide some pop in a lineup that produced only 65 extra base hits in 55 games in 2010. She finished her sophomore season with a .324 batting average, three doubles, two triples, a homerun and 13 RBI in 68 at bats, earning Honorable Mention Mid-Florida Conference.

“We are so excited that Mandi is joining our Lynn softball family,” said Lynn Coach Mandy Harris. “We feel Mandi is a great fit for us both athletically and academically. She can play several positions and has a strong presence at the plate. Mandi will bring lots of experience to our middle infield and will help take our program to the next level. We look forward to her playing in the blue and white for the next two years.”
